| My tape backups have started failing, due to time out errors.I noticed that if I try restore headeronly from the tape drive I also receive a backup error.I'm thinking that it could be the tape drive HP DAT 72 but thought I'd ask if anyone had any other suggestions.This is the command I'm running: RESTORE HEADERONLY FROM TAPE = '\\.\Tape0' WITH NOUNLOAD I am greeted with this result: ********************************Msg 4027, Level 16, State 1, Line 4Mount tape for RESTORE HEADERONLY of database '' on tape drive '\\.\Tape0'.Msg 3229, Level 16, State 1, Line 4Request for device '\\.\Tape0' timed out.Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 4RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally.************************************** It doesn't happen all the time, but roughly half the time the backups fail.If I go to the Computer Manager then Storage--> Libraries --> Hewlett Packard DAT 72 (my tape drive) it shows the Red X over the drive.It lists it as an off-line library.Any thoughts on this? |

| Hello..I have come across this issue as well. Since the restore or even the backup for that fact fails intermittently we found that during the times we attempted to backup the network was staturated with traffic. From what I can tell this issue happens sometimes... try scheduling your backup at a different time... when other backups are now going on or if there is less network traffic. | Now in my case I only backup to the local tape drive on my server, I don't pull or push anything over the network.I don't think that would apply in my case, or are you suggesting that something else is happening related to that? |
