I'm getting this error when I try to connect to localhost
and it says "Login failed for user '' the user is not associated with a trust SQL server connection.

After googling, it's said the cause of this problem is that the server authentication isn't set to 'mixed mode'. I've already set it that way, yet this problem continues to bug me :(

Any ideas?

Thanks for all the help.

try connection to (local) instead of localhost, or use the hostname of you sql server instead.

Cannot connect to pc-00.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233)

I get this error the first time I try to login, subsequent tries all give me that first error. /sigh

1) If you are not trying encryption, first, see whether you explicitly specify a cert? if so, then delete it; otherwise, go to local machine or user certificate personal store, delete all certificates, and restart sql server, doulbe check Server ERRORLOG, see " A self-signed certificate was successfully loaded for encryption.", then retry connection.

Where is this place i find the certificates? :/

2) If you must use encrypted connection, you need a good certificate for SQL Server 2005. Please see blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/sql_protocols/archive/2005/12/30/508311.aspx

to understand what kind of certificate is qualified for SQL 2k5. Also, you can go to SQL Server Configuration Manager, right click properties for the sql instance, and choose *Certificate* tab, choose any certificate in the drop down list which has already been validated by SQL 2k5, then restarted the sql instance and retry connection.

The error you may hit more frequently when you did not choose a cert and SQL Server load the bad cert from certificate store. There are various bad cert that cause the problem, see kB:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919710/en-us for one example.

I don't even know if i'm using an encrypted connection or not :(

do you have the line in your sql error log that says "The certificate was successfully loaded for encryption" ? if not, then it is probably not this cert error.

you may want to read the comments to the blog posting, as some of them offer alternate solutions to this same error.

I have never run across this particular error, so this is about all I have to offer.

2008-01-17 14:26:31.42 Server A self-generated certificate was successfully loaded for encryption.

I haven't cleared my certs yet, but that's what i'm looking for, right.
Should I go ahead with the solution?
