I know the ..Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\LOG\ErrorLog on the server contains the information. But that needs I to RDP to the server or open the file remotely. Is there any other way to find out the port from my SSMS connection?

I remember in SQL Server 2000 you could find the information by choosing Properties of a connection in EM and click on the Network Configuration button. (I know it works when you are ON THE SERVER! But when I tried from my desktop, pressing the button didn't do anything)

Using SSMS, you can look in the SQL Server Logs. Open the most recent log file, go to the beginning of the file and look for the line that says "Server is listening on...".
