hi

i have installed sql server 2005 on one machine and client on another machine. client is not detecting sql server on server machine. what type of settings should i do so that client can access server.

Allow remote connections in Surface Area Configuration.

On the Server, Start -> Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -> Configuration Tools

Once open click Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections

You shouldn't have these issues with 2000. Your first post said 2005?!?

You will not have the same issues with 2000 as the security model is different.
