Hi,
I have installed two instances for the sql for two different application, and the task manager in Windows is showing that I am using 3.5 GB from the RAM (I have 4 GB RAM on my server).
Can sombody tell me the stebs to have monitoring on the RAM and how to have the best performance for SQL 2005.
I appreciate your help.

You can use SQL server System monitor counters for this purpose. Have a look at Buffer Manager & Memory Manager counters

If you install 2 instances on 4 GB server , of course you won't get optimal performance. You can find lots of articles about Performance tuning in:

You mentioned that you have 4Gb but it's only showing 3.5GB. It seems that Windows physical address extension feature (PAE) has not been activated.

Pae is for memory above 4gb. If server has hot swap memory feature, firmware needs 500mb memory for that.
