Here's a shot in the dark...http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q285100Article comes up with the same error, but due to a mixed case server name on the original 2000 install. Since you are having similar problems, the patch may be helpful.I've also seen some forums discuss this as a problem with the firewall, though I doubt that is the problem in your case.Also, I 'overheard' this comment in another forum......"Hi, I solved this problem by installing win2k sp2.
