| Cannot install Workstation Components (Management Studio, etc) (ADD_LOCAL error)I have Vista Ultimate (IIS Enabled), SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition(downloaded and ran the SP2 Update), Visual Studio 2008. VS2008installs no problem. When I install SQL Server 2005, I get an errorwhen it trys to install the last part( Workstation Components,Management Studio, etc).I have tried FULLY, MANUALLY removing all SQL products and registryentries. I have used Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. I have triedMicrosoft's recommended way of manually removing SQL Server 2005.If I manually run SqlRun_Tools.msi the error comes up right away. The error is:"A component that you have specified in the ADD_LOCAL property isalreadyinstalled. To upgrade the existing component, refer to thetemplate.ini andset the UPGRADE property to the name of the component."Here's the Setup Error log: http://toby.pastebin.com/f63405e24Any help?! Thanks!-Toby |

| SP2 stays in memory. Had this problem when I first installed SQL on vista. Took me two days to get it sorted. You need to makes sure all parts of SQL are uninstalled, including MSXML 6.0, MSXML 4 SP2 and SQLXML4. YUou may need to go to Local Machine\software\microsoft\ and remove the MSSQLServer key. Then re-install and make sure you install SQL Server first as VS installs express and then tries to upgrade it straight away, therefore installing SP2. |
