| ok. Here we go again. they got my Servers built yesterday and here I am on a saturday doing the installs I ran SQL SERVER 2005 Standard Edition Setup on my Windows 2003 Enterprise Server with SP2it ran through and installed Client tools, BOL and such.. but did not install an actual Instance. I never got the Advanced button to choose which components to install. What did I do wrong????????I need to install a Named Instance on Both Server.. one will be DEV one Production. help? |

| When you install SQL Server - you have the option to install a default instance or a named instance. | I found the problem. When the infrastructure guys copied DISK1 and DISK2 down to the Server, they unzipped them into the same installation folder. I think some of the files got overwritten and I was using the wrong setup.exe. Luckily, they left the unzipped disk files on the harddrive. I unzipped them into their own folders and ran setup for disk1!!! |
