If you have enabled truncate log on checkpoint by selecting the recovery mode, any transactions that have made it to the MDF since the last full backup will not be restoreable.

So you will not be able to do a point in time recovery, and you will not be able to backup the T-Log.

What this option does is every time a checkpoint happens (Data written from the log to the mdf) that it will delete the data from the log when the write to the mdf is complete. In the other scenario lets say a full recovery model then when a checkpoint happens the data will stay in the log after it has been written to the mdf and will not be removed until the T-Log has been backed up.

I hope this is what you are looking for.
