Hi Gurus,

While one of my DB through job i got following error message.

Failed to uncompressing data block. RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally. Read on "VDI_2A04E518-0B70-41F8-BA22-48A63F9AC65C_0" failed: 1223(The operation was canceled by the user.) [SQLSTATE HY000] (Error 52008). The step failed.

Can someone help in this.

Did you put backup file in compressed folder? If so, move it to regular folder then try restore again.

Looks more like a storage retrieval error from a third party backup tool.

I'm getting this error today between a pair of servers that we have used many times for this operation, and no significant changes have taken place. We're currently copying over the (same) LiteSpeed backup file again, to see if the corruption has occurred during the copying process. We cannot take a new backup of the source database in this case for process reasons. I'll try to write back later in the day to report on success (!)

No success to report: went with a non-LiteSpeed backup in the end, which is taking hours to copy over today.

So, we ended up having exactly the same error with two completely different LS backups. Thanks for the Support information, RickD, we'll have to raise it with them.
