 unable to backup all the dbs

i am using sql 2005,i want to backup all the databases when i try to schedule a maintenance plan , i dont get all the databases listed event though i authenticate as SA.

More than likely the 'missing' databases are in a mode that does not allow backups (Offline/Suspect) to be taken.

but i was able to backup each database manually using the backup database command

Are you looking at full backup or log backup? Log backup page only lists dbs that are not in simple recovery model.

So how many databases can you see and how many you can't? what is the status of databases which you can't see?
