I'm getting some conflicting information , regarding sql 2005 Standard Edition licensing for multi instancing. If you have multiple instances of SQL 2005 Standard Edition on one Server, do you need to pay a server license for every Instance or just the one Server license?Jack Vamvas--------------------Search IT jobs from multiple sources- http://www.ITjobfeed.com

Thanks RickD - although reading this , it is not clear that if you have 1 physiacl server , 1 os , and multiple instances of SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition , do you pay 1 sql server license or a sql server licence per instance ,amd I misreading ? "For Workgroup and Standard each virtual or physical operating environment containing a running instance of SQL Server requires a Server license"Jack Vamvas--------------------Search IT jobs from multiple sources- http://www.ITjobfeed.com

If you havbe a processor license, then you only pay once for each processor, regardless of the instances.
