So did you create a MAPI profile for your SQL Server to use?
Were you logged into the same account that your SQL Server is runnning in when you created it?

SQL Version OS Version Service Pack Level would be useful

Did you configure the mail profile logged in as the account SQL Service Starts under ?

If you can't see the Mail Profile in the drop down box then you might not have configured it correctly however first thing to check is Outlook the default Mail Client ?

Open Internet Explorer and goto Tools>Options>Programs and make sure Outlook is selected as the Email program and click apply. Reboot the server. See if the profile appears in the dropdown box. If not then you need to make sure your mail profile is defined correctly.
