| i want to create in sql 2005, maintainance plan that will shrink the LOG file.my current log file had came up to 110GB.under the OPTIONS its set to "FULL".how can i do this?thnaks in advancepelegIsrael -the best place to live in aftr heaven 9but no one wan't to go there so fast -:) |

| Take a log backup and try to shrink it.You should be taking transaction log backup frequently like every 20-30 mins to control log growth.If you can't shrink by any means,Take a full backup and put your database in simple recovery model and shrink log file.you don't need to create maintenance plan . |

| Transaction log backup will free up space by removing the inactive portion of the log and use DBCC shrinkfile to shrink log file. By taking log backup frequently will keep your log file in control. |
