Is there a way to use Linked Server and have the user be NT.
For Remote login.

I have a NT Group which has user1, user2 in here.

I've never been able to get Windows authentication to work over a linked server. I always have to use SQL authentication.

Here's the error I get with Windows authentication:
Msg 18456, Level 14, State 1, Line 1
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.

It works with windows also but security account delegation has to be established between servers. We also use SQL login which is easy to setup.

sodeep, how do you setup "security account delegation"? Is it done at the Active Directory level or in SQL Server?

Yes, with Active Directory Level and not really secure way to do it.

Thank you!

I have no access to Active Directory and the people who admin it I'm sure would not make these changes for me. I'll stick with SQL authentication.

I have the NT accounts set up on both servers
Example in ad have GROUP called ADGROUP and user TRACEY
comes in they will be DOMAIN\TRACEY - is there a way to use the NTGROUP within SQL as the linked settings otherwise i have to set up all the users within SQL which i did not want to do just the one GROUP
