| I've never been able to get Windows authentication to work over a linked server. I always have to use SQL authentication. Here's the error I get with Windows authentication:Msg 18456, Level 14, State 1, Line 1Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Database maintenance routines:http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/archive/2004/07/02/1705.aspx |

| It works with windows also but security account delegation has to be established between servers. We also use SQL login which is easy to setup. |

| sodeep, how do you setup "security account delegation"? Is it done at the Active Directory level or in SQL Server?Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Database maintenance routines:http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/archive/2004/07/02/1705.aspx |

Thank you! I have no access to Active Directory and the people who admin it I'm sure would not make these changes for me. I'll stick with SQL authentication.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Database maintenance routines:http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/archive/2004/07/02/1705.aspx |
