| Hi,one of our clients is running out of disk space on the SAN and I was simply wondering if it's possible to increase the disks on the fly without any major problems...? Should we take any special precausions? It's a clustered Win2k3 64-bit server with SQL Server 2005 Ent Edition...--Lumbago |

| It depends on how it is setup. It needs to be setup as dynamic according to what I've heard from our SAN people. It probably also depends on your SAN vendor. We were configured for static when using the EVA, but then our SAN people got smarter and started using dynamic. Now we're using a Hitachi SAN and we are constantly adding disks on the fly.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Database maintenance routines:http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/archive/2004/07/02/1705.aspx |

Excellent, thank you so much Tara. I guess the only issue then would be for the storage guys to know their stuff --Lumbago |
