For some reason, when opening up the SQL Server Configuration Manager for one of my SQL Servers, the 'Requesting data from WMI provider..' message stays there. It never gets the data. This is in regards to services management. Its not a big deal, because I can log on to the server to accomplish this, but it would be nice to do it from SSMS. It works for other SQL Servers. Has anyone experienced this before?

Is your WMI service provider turned on?

I believe so. I can access the services from the Server itself, just not through SSMS. I can access other SQL Server Configuration Manager services for other SQL Servers through SSMS.

What kind of windows permission do you have on that server?

I have this problem - if I wait for about 30 mins, I finally get a response and it works normally.

It started after applying a Windows update to my machine, I don't know if that is significant.
