Is this possible? I can only seem to restore when the *.bak is on a local drive which is ridiculous. I'm sure this translates to other operations in addition to restoring databases...

Just use a unc path.

RESTORE DATABASE dbName
FROM DISK = '\\SomeServer\SomeShare\dbName.bak'
WITH REPLACE

Another question (it's my thread, I'll hijack it all I want! )...

I've written a C# application which, among other things, restores a SQL database. It takes a while to restore and I'm wondering if there is a way to display the percentage complete (like it shows when you restore a database manually) in my program console.
