Can someone explain me how does work that flags?
# “Auto Close Flag”
# “Auto Create Statistics Flag”
# “Auto Shrink Flag”
# “Auto Update Flag”

ok ok, I suppose that they shrink, update statistics and stuff automatically, but... when? every second? is it ok to leave all them as true?

thanks

Where did you get this flag from?

You should leave these at their defaults in most cases.

The worst thing you can do on a production database is to enable 'Auto Shrink'. This runs every 30 minutes, and results in additional unnecessary I/O.

It can also cause fragmentation, both at the physical level on disk and at the logical level within the database.

How it runs every 30 mins? Can you explain?

I agree that Auto Shrink is a terrible flag to have enabled in a production environment, but the absolute worst one is Auto Close. Leave this option disabled for all environments, including dev and test. It's just unnecessary.

You should consider enabling the auto update async option. For more info, check this out: http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/archive/2008/06/16/Asynchronous-Update-Statistics.aspx
