Friends:

we are facing this error, when i am trying to connect from sql server 2005 client.

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - No such host is known.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 11001)

Server Details :

SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition SP2
Active/Passive cluster
Created alias successfully
tcp port : 1433
add sqlservr.exe under exceptions tab
sql server browser services is running

Still we are not able to connect to the server from the client

please advise on this

cheers :)

Go to surfacearea configurations and under remote connections allow to have both local and remote connections, and select the option Using both TCP/IP and named pipes. Hope this should work
