Hi,I have a server instance bs-server/sql_2005. Is it possible to configure somewhere so that this server will be the default? I have to run a script that installs databases into the default server and I assume it's looking for server bs-server but this doesn't exist any longer so I want the script to install the databases inside bs-server/sql_2005.Any suggestions please?ThanksWhisky-my beloved dog who died suddenly on the 29/06/06-I miss u so much.

That's set in the connection string of whatever app you're using to connect to the server.--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP

Hi,The program that we obtained sets databases in the default server. We want to install the database under the instance which isn't the default. We don't have the code so we can't change the connection string.Whisky-my beloved dog who died suddenly on the 29/06/06-I miss u so much.

How does it know which server you are intending? Is it being run from the SQL Server server itself?Perhaps you can trick it with an alias. Open SQL Server Configuration Manager and create an alias, then specify the IP address for the server and the Port number for your instance.---------------------------EmeraldCityDomains.com
