Hi,

I've HP Server with SmartArray Raid controller.i use 2 disk in mirror for the system operation and SQL Server Binaries,2 disk in mirror for the SQL Server Log files(LDF), 4 disk in raid5 for the SQL Server Data files (MDF).

after that i create those Raid Array i need to format the partition,is there any meaning on how i format those partition concerning the Allocation Unit Size?

Use 64k block size. By the way, get another array for tempdb if possible.

If you have four disks why not RAID 10 for the data? Are you backing up to the data volume?

actually it's 3 disk and 1 is an global hot spare.
