| I have a job setup which looks for a file in the particular folder for every 20 min. If the particular file is found (say X.txt) it triggers a another job which correspond to the file (Jobname: XXX) and XXX job runs for 45 min. My question here is1. Will the filewatcher job waits until the XXX job is finish (because the filewatcher scheduled to run for every 20 min.)??? OR the filewatcher job runs for every 20 min though the kicked off job is unfinished.Your help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance |

| Assuming that job XXX is being run by using sp_start_job in a step in the first job, that first job will run every 20 minutes according to its schedule. It will show as complete as soon as it kicks off job XXX, and will not continue to run as job XXX is running. Therefore, when it tries to run again in twenty minutes, and job XXX is still running, it will simply fail and log an error in the SQL Agent Error Log that an attempt to run a job failed because it was already running.SQL Sentry Inc.www.sqlsentry.netAchieve Ultimate Microsoft® SQL Server® Performance |
