I'm trying to make an event notification thats going to email me whenever a certain service stops or restarts. I read that you can use the "Audit Server Start and Stop Event Class" but the problem is that I can't find it. I searched in BOL and the event classes that I found were the following: AUDIT_SERVER_ALTER_TRACE_EVENTAUDIT_SERVER_OBJECT_GDR_EVENTAUDIT_SERVER_OBJECT_MANAGEMENT_EVENTAUDIT_SERVER_OBJECT_TAKE_OWNERSHIP_EVENTAUDIT_SERVER_OPERATION_EVENTAUDIT_SERVER_PRINCIPAL_IMPERSONATION_EVENTAUDIT_SERVER_PRINCIPAL_MANAGEMENT_EVENTAUDIT_SERVER_SCOPE_GDR_EVENTI made an event notification containing all off the above event classes and restarted the SQL Server Agent service but it didn't gave any result.Has anyone got an idea? Thanks.

You'll need to monitor for the SQL Server services outside of the SQL Server tools. We use MOM to monitor our services, but it just checks the event log for the related messages.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Subscribe to my blog

Unfortunately we do not use MOM but I spoke with the System Administrators and they told me that they use Nagios. This will probably do the trick.
