Jason writes "Hello, I am running SQL Server 2000 SP1 on Windows 2000 Server SP2 and am having a problem. I can't seam to get it to text page me when replication to a subscriber fails. I have no idea how to set up an alert and I have looked at your article on setting up a mail queue and have also attempted to find any information that can help on the net...no luck. I am monitoring 12 sql servers through my PC and would find it a lot easier if I could be paged say if replication fails, or the service is stopped, or the server goes down. I continualy receive an error message informing me that the SQLServer Mail Agent is not set up but will not allow me to set one up because I do not have MS Office installed on the server. If possible, could you please send me a detailed step-by-step on how I can set up the text page and alerts.

Regards,
Jason"

Here is what we have on SQL Mail.

You will need an Exchange Server on your network and a MAPI account for this box. Alternatively, you could just send SMTP Mail.
