Hi folks,

We recently upgraded the server from sql 2000 to 20005.
Previously one query is used to take 15-20 min, but after upgrading the same query is taking more than 4 hours.
IN the upgraded version we have sp 1 , does it effects the performace of the query.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Thaniparthi

Did you rebuild the indexes after the upgrade?

Actually the query is extracting the data from views.
Any ideas.

Views do not normally hold data.
They are just "pointers" to underlying tables, which has indexes and statistics.

I was not involved in the upgrading process.
Where exactly we have to check whether the indexes were upgraded or not.

Ask the DBA if the indexes were rebuilt after the upgrade. If they weren't, ask if statistics were updated. If they weren't, I'd question his skills.

The DBA should also check fragmentation of the indexes.
