Red Gate's tool is Log Rescue, and is free, but only works for SQL Server 2000 transaction logs. You can download it here.Aside from Lumigent, ApexSQL also offers a log reader. You can read more about it here.Ray MondSQLBackupRestore.com - your quick guide to SQL Server backup and recovery issuesSQL Inspect - SQL Server query analysis made simpleSQL Image Viewer - retrieve, view, convert and export images directly from SQL Server, SQLite and Firebird databases.

Tara & Ray!, thanks for the reply,Does transaction log records every thing,we are having deadlock issuses in production yesterday, and i tried to reproduce the blocking in production using our application, and was not successful, because each time i use the application, it was working fine,So i was trying to find out whether when ever sql server suffers from blocking does it record anything in the Transaction log(.ldf), if it does then this log tool will be very helpful to me

Deadlocking and blocking are two different thing. You can Blocking info with master..sysprocesses .One way to log Deadlock info is to Enable trace flags (-T 1205 or -T 1222(SQL 2005) and -T 3605( to log in Error log).

If you are experiencing deadlocks, then the way to resolve this is not via a log reader. How to resolve it is discussed in detail in SQL Server Books Online and other online resources.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Subscribe to my blog
