i have a .bak file ..from this how can i find the mdf and ldf name... pl help

Thats a backup file, you will have to restore the db 1st

yes u r correct but i don't know the name of the filename ( i.e ldf and mdf ) that why i am asking?

While restoring DB, you will see Mdf and Ldf files automatically configured . You have to specify location.
