Hi ,

I have registered a SQL Server 2000 which is on the other side of the firewall , from Enterprise manager installed on my local system . My system too has SQL 2000 Server .
I always connect the server through SQL authentication as it is a non-trusted domain .

After some time , the SQL Server shows as inactive in my Enterprise manager ( When it is actually running ) and when i select that server
it gives me a message that :

The SQL Server is not known to be running . Would you like to connect it now ?. And then i select yes and it works .

I get this message everytime i try to connect to the server . The server does not remain connected permanently .
Could be some kind of refreshing problem or some other server settings ?
This is not happening for other SQL Servers that i have registered .
Any info in this regard ?

In EM, Click on the Tools-->Options menu. Try upping the Poll Interval. Since it has to go through the firewall and connect to a server that's probably pretty busy serving internet users it may not be responding fast enough for EM. HTH
