We have a publication server and two subscribers on transactional replication
last week, Replication failed twice with foll message
"The specified network name is no longer available"
we got this message on replication monitor and on event viewer.
first we had to reenter subscriber servers entry on DNS.
on second time we were able to ping servers vice-versa,telnet 1433,and open UNC location.
at last we rebooted publication server and replication started again.

i am not sure why all of a sudden this error is popping up

following is the version info of the servers
PublicationServer 9.00.1399.06 RTM Enterprise Edition
SubscriberServer1 9.00.3042.00 SP2 Enterprise Edition
SubscriberServer2 9.00.3042.00 SP2 Enterprise Edition

You need to upgrade Publisher as RTM is not supported. The issue more than likely was due to network issue, although hard to say for sure.
