Hi, when I am running job for reindexing on tables, data files are taking 15-20 GB space and we have always space issue due to this reindeing and we have to shrink data file after reindeing, now I am confuse about the space issue why it is grasping so much amount of space. pls anyone has answer for my query..... |

Reindexing take a lot of space to perform (I don't recall the exact allocation but it may be 1 to 1), And by shrinking your data file after reindexing, it defeats the reindex as it will totally defrage the indexes again.....Terry-- Procrastinate now! |

It takes log space during reindexing.You are unnecessarily causing performance overhead by shrinking after reindexing as Tosscrosby said? What is recovery model of your DB? How critical is database? |
