Hi my default instance of sql install files got corrupted and now sql wont start i uninstalled it using the cd but now when i go to reinstall it i can not get it to reinstall as defualt and it wants to install as an instance? How do i get around this please this is urgent.

It thinks the default instance is still installed. If you already uninstalled it, then it must still think it's there which means you'll need to manually remove whatever it didn't remove.
