Hi All,

I am trying to connect to a SQL 2000 8.00.760 DB through a program called TracerPlus ODBC link. Every time I try to connect to my SQL table I get a error stating:

"Access Violation at address XXXXXX in module "SQLSRV32.DLL". Write of address XXXXXX."

I have the ODBC System DNS settings set and they test successful. My network account and the account that I am using to connect to the DB are both the db_owner of the DB. The makers of the TracerPlus software keep saying that it is a access problem to SQL DB.

The Tracerplus program will connect fine to a local MS Access DB. The MDAC is version 2.8 SP1 and the computer is a Windows XP SP3

Anyone have any clues what this could be? We do not have a DBA here and the creator of the DB is no longer with the company.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Joe

An access violation is a bug with a SQL Server component.

Install sp4 for SQL 2000 on both the client and the server machines.

Thanks Tara,

The Windows Server 2003 is SP4 but the SQL DB is only SP3. We will try and see what happens.

Hi Tara,

I installed SQL 2000 SP4 today and tried to run the TracerPlus program again and received the same error. Any other suggestions before I start with a fresh database?

Thanks,

Joe
