recently i had a suspect database of 1gb of which i deleted accidentally.i only have its .ldf file.i tried using it to rebuild its .mdf file but to no avail.

i tried using data recovery software like getbackdata and others but no chance.

is there a way one can rebuild a dbase using only its .ldf file?am told in oracle its possible.

please help guys.

No, and I doubt it is possible in Oracle either (unless the whole database is stored in the log file). If you do not have a backup, then simply chalk it down to experience and take the hit.

Not at all. A ldf has only the changes since the last trasnaction log backup/checkpoint (depending on recovery model). There is no way to recover anything if you only have the ldf.

Restore from your latest backup.
You do have a backup, right?
