| I'm getting into some more serious study of indexes, data pages, extents, etc. The book I'm currently reading is for SQL 7.0 (Rob Viera's Professional SQL Server 7 Programming). Were there any significant changes to these topics in SQL 2000? Any significant changes in locking? |

| Check out the What's New-SQL Server, Relational Database Enhancements. I think you'll find some of what you need there. There are several changes from 7.0 to 2000 which are listed in this section. I think many of the changes are environment specific and may differ from organization to organization. There are some pretty significant index changes, maybe not in the structure so much as the ability to index computed columns and to sort columns as well. Hope this helps.JamesH. |
