we have SQL Server 2000 running. I’ve been trying to backup my transaction logs for the databases for some time but I’ve had no success. In other words if I right click a database and select ‘All Tasks->Backup Database…’ And under ‘Backup’ there are ‘Database – complete, Database – deferential, Transaction log, File and file group:’I cannot select Transaction log because it is disabled. Does anybody know why they are disabled? How can I enable them? Thanks for helping!

It is disabled because your recoverl model doesn't support it. You must use FULL or BULK_LOGGED recovery models in order to perform transaction log backups.

Right click on the database, go to properties, then to options. Check out your recoverl model.

ALTER DATABASE myDB SET RECOVERY FULL

Look in Books Online for more information under "ALTER DATABASE" and "Recovery Model".
