Hi.

I am solely responsible for developing applications for my company. I started with VB6 and moved to VB.Net two years ago. I am currently working on a new SQL application that manages production data. I would like to upgrade to Visual Studio 2008 to take advantage of LINQ because it sound great from what i have been reading. I'm sure there are many other reasons for upgrading to 2008. After presenting this idea to my superiors they told me that they do not want to upgrade to Visual Studio 2008 because they have heard that there are some problems with 2008. I haven't heard of these problems.

Can someone please tell me if they have heard of any problems with 2008?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks.

I don't know of any that weren't fixed with the service pack. Can you find out from your boss(es) what specific problems they heard of?

You might get a better response posting on a Visual Studio forum too, they'll likely have more exposure to all the little things in Visual Studio.

Thanks robvolk.

Unfortunately i am left in the dark regarding my superior's thoughts. I work remotely from home while all of my collegues discuss how they want to see things happen. I usually have to just deal with it unless i can give them one hell of an argument. I'm not totally convinced that they know of any issues which is why i want to see if anyone here has heard on any. People hear seem very knowledable.

Thanks again for your help.

I got a couple of hits on Google with "linq in vs 2005" that might help you out.
