Michael writes "I am a web developer building my first sites using SQL Server 7.0.

My company has set up one SQL Server for development, and another for published production sites.

In planning for the publication of the first site driven by SQL Server, I came across a scenario that has the team stumped.

The scenario is how does one make changes to the database’s structure, after the site is on the production server, while protecting the data? This would include adding new tables, or adding columns to existing tables.

For example, I am building a site for a site for a specialty foods market. Halfway through the project, the customer asked for a module to display an archive of recipes. How would I develop the new modules on a development server, and then get the changes to the production server without compromising data?

Thanks"
