| I need to change the drive location for the .mdf file for one of my databases. BOL does not seem to address simply moving these files. Will I need to create a 2nd file in the filegroup, then delete the 1st? |

| Using sp_detach_db and sp_attach_single_file_db is probably the easiest way to move the file. See Books Online for more details. |

Wow, at my former company, during presentations to upper management, I did BOTH of those! You'd be amazed how often CFO's cough up the funds when you give them a balloon dog! |
