Hi SQLteam,I'm running sql server enterprise 2000 on win2k3 sp1. The database file is devided into four data files. one primary with extension (.mdf) and the other three secondary files are having extension (.ndf)The problem:the first two files are located in drive D: and the other located in different folder in drive E:what is the best practise to put all files together in one location (folder)?thank you,Zak |

My first thought is do a backup and then restore with providing needed drive/path/name.But maybe some of the real GURU's are knowing other ways. No, you're never too old to Yak'n'Roll if you're too young to die. |

The reason data files are spread across different drives is to spread I/O across different drives. You shouldn't not be putting everything in same drives. Tell us the exact reason why you are doing this. |

moving this file from drive D to drive E will simply free some disk spaces. |
