In the context of SQL Server performance, MSFT has a white paper which includes a decent discussion on which counters are most relevant to its performance. A quick search on msdn.microsoft.com should turn it up.Jonathan{0}

There are a few very good books on SQL Server performance tuning. You can find links to those at: http://vyaskn.tripod.com/sqlbooks.htm#perfComing to your specific question, I would monitor the various disk queue length parameters of PhysicalDisk object. I'd look at Target and Total Server Memory conters of SQLServer:Memory Manager object. Transaction/sec of SQLServer:Databases, User Connections of SQLServer:General Statistics, Buffer Cache Hit Ratio of SQLServer:Buffer Manager, %Processor Time of Processor object etc are important as well. Also, the Memory object will provide some vital information on memory related aspects.If you are looking for any specific piece of information, let us know.--HTH,Vyashttp://vyaskn.tripod.com

Or, seeing as you are asking on SQLTeam, you can also buy books through SQLTeam's bookstore http://www.sqlteam.com/store.asp and help support the site.Damian
