Hi i create an SSIS package and create the deployment folder. When i go to double click on the ssispackage.SSISDeploymentManifest file it won;t launch the wizard.

Is there some setting i need to get this to work ?

No error as such i get a dialog box asking me to open the file in a choice of programs. Which is a standard MS option.

In 2005 the manifest is linked to launch
"SQL Server 2005 Integration Services Package Installation Utility"
Maybe that's similar in 2008 and you can choose it from the list of applications?

I tried this option but it seem to be for executing the package rather than to install the package to a MSDB or to the file system.

Was Installation Utility a part of the name?
Then why should it be for executing?

Hm...

edit: typo

Yes that is the right way.
You have to link the manifest file type with dtsinstall.exe and it should work.

Just to complete the forum, I got this to work by just running dtsiinstall.exe "E:\solutionpath\bin\Deployment\SSISDeploymentManifest"
and it launches the install wizard for me.
