Fraser writes "My SQL server won't start...

I have not started this server since before christmas (I use it for development), but now it won't start. I don't believe it can have suffered from the recent "Slammer" virus, due to it not being "Started"...

The logs don't show anything of interest...

I don't know where to begin trouble shooting this problem. It is SQL 2000 Developer Edition SP2 running on Win 2000 Pro SP2.

Can anyone help me start fixing this problem?

Thanks,

Fraser"

Have you looked at the windows services is sql server set to start-up?

Is the the sql manager set to start-up?

Do you see a sql server icon in your tray with a red square showing?

Check what the message is when you click "start" in the service manager. A common culprit is an expired password.
