Nick writes "Hello...I want to thank you for the script to find the table sizes for my database.I have another question though. One of my tables is has an unusually large Reserved Space amount, and I would like to know how to shrink this down...We have deleted around 1 million records from this table which used to be over 12GB in size. Now it looks as if it is down to 2.5GB, but the Reserved Size is still very large. We do not need such an extreme size of Reserved Space anymore because there will not be as much data written to the that table anymore. So my question is how to shrink the Reserved KB size. Here is what is returned from your table size query:ROWS / RESERVED KB / DATA KB / INDEX SIZE KB / UNUSED KB320830 / 11175696 KB / 2430640 KB / 466496 KB / 8278560 KBThank you so much in advance,Nick Gates"

A guess...........You could try raising the fillfactor to pack more rows on a page. bare in mind the consequences of doing so.===========Paul

Doing a dbcc dbreindex or defrag on the table may also free up some of the reserved space. We do this in a regular basis on our servers since we have a lot of deletes.

Maybe a "Shrink Database" would be the solution for this?Michael<Yoda>Use the Search page you must. Find the answer you will.</Yoda>
