This user (who just got SQL Server 2008 Express installed on his compuer) cannot connect to a SQL Server 2000 database. He gets an error about the database may not exist (error 5 and error 85). I have tried different slashes and names:\\servername\databasenameservername\databasenameFacts:-Port 1433 is clear.-User can telnet to the server.-User has an account on the database.-SQL Server browser and SQL Server services have been stopped and restarted.I'm not sure why he cannot connect to this database. The database is a copy of a database that used to exist on another server. So far, no one has been able to connect to it remotely. Why can't he connect? |
