I have set up a virtual machine whith windows server 2003 enterprise edition with sp2.

i am trying to install sql server 2005 enterprise edition but i keep getting the message:

"Minimum Hardware Requirements Not Met"

It definately has got the minimum requirements as i set up two xp machines with the exact same hardware specs and installed sql with no problems.

Also if i ignore the warning and try setup anyway i get the following error:

" An installation package for the product microsoft sql server native client cannot be found. try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'sqlncli.msi'. "

I have used this Sql server disk with no problems on both xp and win 7 machines. it is sql server enterprise 180 day trial edition.

What could be the problem?

Thanks.

What Virtual server are you using? Is Win2k3 SP1?

Did you read this before installing? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506(SQL.90).aspx

I was installing 2005, and its sp2.

But i sorted it now. i skiped the hardware eror (i think because sql 2005 wants 1gb ram on windows server instead of the 512 it normally asks for, but you can skip past this.)

The problem seemed to be that i installed the sql server native client, then came out of the install program. then went back in to intstall sql server.

i just uninstalled the native client, reinstalled it then went straight to install sql server, which done the trick.

Thanks
