hi all,In 2005, Backup Database includes an option to have the .bak file go to a second location - by specifying MIRROR TO DISK='the path'But, when I ran that, I got this message" "Backup mirroring is not available in this edition of SQL Server" This instance is 2005 Standard SP3Standard has the Database Mirroring feature but apparently the MIRROR TO option in Backup is available only in the Enterprise edition. Doesn't really make sense. Yes they are vastly different I realize.Just want to verify that you cannot use the MIRROR TO option in 2005 Standard. Is that correct? Thanks, john |

Database mirroring and mirrored backups are so completely different concepts it doesn't make any sense to compare them as to availability in editions. From Books Online:quote: MIRROR TO <backup_device> [ ,...n ]Specifies a set of up to three secondary backup devices, each of which will mirror the backups devices specified in the TO clause. The MIRROR TO clause must be specify the same type and number of the backup devices as the TO clause. The maximum number of MIRROR TO clauses is three. This option is available only in SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition and later versions.
