Why export? Backup from the 2005 server and restore on the 2008 server.Assuming you used the script database wizard, did you select the views when you generated the script?--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP |

What I did was use the script database wizard and exported all obj's. Didn't think to restore from that script. It's been two days since migrating to 2008 and the database now has new data because users are using it. Should I try the following action plan:===1.) backup only the changes made since exporting the database?2.) delete the exported db3.) Restore from the script4.) Restore the latest changes |

If it was just the views that failed to script, script just the views from SQL 2005 and then run that script on the 2008 server. My question was why you did export/import initially instead of just restoring a backup.--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP |

"Newbie"Information that I received form MSFT. Since two different architectures I thought I could simply export. Also, didn't find any straight cut tutorials or howto's on exporting from 32bit SQL 2005 Svr to 64bit SQL 2008 Svr |

Wow. I would question the person who gave you information implying there were difficulties.quote: Also, didn't find any straight cut tutorials or howto's on exporting from 32bit SQL 2005 Svr to 64bit SQL 2008 Svr
No tutorials necessary. Take a database backup of the 2005 database, copy to the 2008 server. Restore the backup.--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP |
