I recently detach mdf and ldf file from a database and again attached it. The database is abt 15GB. The problem is that now when i take baukup the database, the computer slows down and mouse flickers and take abt 1hr and 14 mints for backup. The computer is Pent. xeon quad process.
I copied the database to my pentim-4 computer which is slower than above and on it takes 30 min' and no flickering or slowing of computer is observed.
kindly help.

It sounds like you've got IO issues. Check Event Viewer for any errors/warnings. Check the SQL Server Error Log too. Run PerfMon and verify that you are under 12ms per IO request. Check file fragmentation.
