Hi,

Im not able to connect to SQL SERVER 2000 on WINDOWS 2003, Im getting the following error.

After several attempts, it got connected, but even if i run any simple select query also, im getting this.

Server: Msg 11, Level 16, State 1, Line 0
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Shared Memory]General network error. Check your network documentation.
Server: Msg 65534, Level 16, State 1, Line 0
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Shared Memory]ConnectionOpen (PreLoginHandshake()).

Connection Broken

Please suggest.

How fast/slow is a ping to the database server?

It sounds like network latency to me.
